iPage, HostGator, HostMonster, they’re all the same company.

February 27, 2014

EIG, or Endurance International Group, owns over 50 web hosting brands. Most of these brands are marketed as their own web hosting companies so that they have a better chance of you signing up for one of them. This is how they can take over whole pages of web hosting reviews.

They pay web hosting review sites hundreds of dollars for every sign up, and on many review pages such as hosting-review.com and consumer-rankings.com they have the top 3 or 5 spots of the page. This ensures that your money goes to the same place no matter what company you think that you are signing up for.

It’s too bad that the review websites don’t care about that. All they care about is making money off of you instead of informing you what web hosts are actually good.
